Meet Kate Sudduth

I'm Kate, the founder of Sudduth Consulting. My work is rooted in Social Work and Nonprofit Management, driven by a simple belief: strong systems are the backbone of great missions. But beyond building those systems, I care deeply about growing the people who run them.

For over 15 years, I've worked inside the nonprofit sector—first as a social worker on the front lines, then leading teams and managing complex grant portfolios. That journey gave me a front-row seat to what works, what breaks, and what it takes to help organizations thrive.

Today, I bring that experience together in three ways:

As a Consultant: I partner with nonprofits, schools, education foundations, and funders to turn grant funding into sustainable growth. It's one thing to land a grant; it's another to keep it year after year while scaling your impact. I help you move beyond survival mode into long-term stability.

As an Educator: For over three years, I've taught graduate-level courses at the Indiana University School of Social Work, training the next generation of social workers in nonprofit fundraising, management, and leadership. There's nothing quite like seeing students apply classroom theory to real-world challenges—it reminds me why investing in professional growth matters so much.

As a Speaker: From regional conferences to board retreats, I speak regularly to share practical tools, real stories, and zero sales pressure. If I can spark one new idea that helps someone do their work better, I consider it a win.

My credentials include a Bachelor's in Social Work and Intercultural Studies from Union University and a Master's in Social Work (with a focus in evaluation) from Indiana University. But my most valuable education came from doing the work alongside you.

The Grantor's Perspective

One thing sets Sudduth Consulting apart: I've sat on both sides of the table. Having assisted foundations in how to manage and disburse their own investments, I bring a unique "grantor's perspective" to your applications and reporting. I know exactly what reviewers are looking for because I've helped design the criteria they use.

My Promise to You

At the end of the day, this isn't just about spreadsheets and application deadlines. It's about the people we serve—the vulnerable and the overlooked who depend on your organization to show up consistently.

My goal is simple: to give you the operational clarity and funding security you need so you can stop worrying about how you'll pay the bills, and start focusing on making sure your clients thrive.

And along the way, I get to coach, teach, and support others who carry that same mission forward.

That's the part I truly love.
